The 14th annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Promise Ball Caliente for a Cure! was held May 5 at the Hilton Polaris.  More than 400 guests enjoyed a Cinco de Mayo-themed party with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a gourmet dinner and live and silent auctions. The event raised more than $475,000 to help fund a cure for Type 1 diabetes. Michael Broidy of Schottenstein Stores Corporation and his family were honored for their years of dedication to finding a cure. Guests were surprised and thrilled when special guest speaker Coach Thad Matta whipped off his tie and auctioned it for $3,000. Tickets were $200, with sponsorship opportunities available.
